Dream maker

ZIYA US SALAM

"Writing is in my genes," says Aziz Mirza.

He hails from a family of filmmakers and writers. Yet, in his school days, Aziz Mirza was not sure of his destination. Having studied at Mumbai's Bombay Scottish High School, he says, "I come from a film family. My father wrote films like `Waqt' and `Naya Daur'. Initially, I used to write for a literary magazine but did not think that I could be a writer."

He enjoyed himself at St Xavier's College . "In college I did write plays like any other boy."

Aziz Mirza, who gave serials like "Nukkad" and "Circus", is ready with his next film. Called "Chalte Chalte", he has taken bits from his life for the film. "I have not had an outstanding life. I use my experiences from my school and college days to etch out my characters."
