KOLKATA: The West Bengal government on Tuesday announced its decision to create 700 new posts in the departments of Home, Health, Higher Education, Minority Affairs and Madrasa education.
Briefing reporters after a Cabinet meeting, Minister of State for Finance Asim Kumar Dasgupta said between the first Cabinet meeting held on April 20, 2010, and now, decisions on creating 17,000 posts have already been announced and the recruitment process has also begun.
Dr. Dasgupta said of the 700 posts being announced now, 474 would be created in the Home Ministry and 189 in the department of Health.
A decision has also been taken to decentralise the process of registration of societies so that people do not have to travel to the State capital.
“Now district magistrates of all districts barring Howrah, Hooghly and the North and South 24 parganas are being empowered to grant registration to societies through treasury offices,” the Minister added.
