Metal mayhem

Five bands will perform at “Metalise”, a concert targeted at metal heads in the city

Unwind Center presents “Metalise”, a metal music fest on January 31, 6 p.m. at KRMM Hall, 4th Crescent Road, Gandhinagar, Adyar.

The three most popular metal bands from Chennai, Blood & Iron, Blind Image and Blood Covenant, and two bands, Vyzasa from Pune and Skrypt from Hyderabad, will perform. Donor passes are priced at Rs. 100.

Vyzasa means mayhem/destruction in Sanskrit. The band’s music covers bands such as At the Gates, Wintersun, Arch Enemy and Death. Some of its popular originals are “Fearophobia”, “God-shaped Hole” and Eulogy For the Unborn”.

The five-piece metal band “Skrypt” is primarily a thrash metal band but with Death, Technical, Progressive and Harcore influences.

Scriptural overtones

Blood Covenant with their new brand of music, Covenant, has completely transformed the image of metal. They are a white metal band, which means that their lyrics have scriptural overtones.

Blood & Iron, formed in early 2005, represents the never-say-die attitude of metal heads in Chennai. Its music is influenced by Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Children of Bodom, Kreator, Manowar, Megadeth and the likes. Blind Image with its album “Psychobabble” has been making waves on the metal scene in the city. They classify their music as thrash/experimental/groove.
