Nagercoil: Police are on the look out for some unidentified persons who decamped with 25 sovereigns of gold ornaments from Ayya Vaikundapathi temple at Swamithoppu near Sucindrum on Friday.
Police put, the worth of stolen jewels at Rs2.50 lakh.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chandrapaul, visited the temple.
The altar of Ambalapathy, which was the headquarters of Ayya Vazhi sect, had been decorated with jewels in view of the ongoing festival during which time, regular poojas were conducted to the founder of the sect Ayya Vaikundar.
