This Day That Age
The President has appointed Mr. A.J. John as Governor of Madras, in succession to Mr. Sri Prakasa, whose appointment as Governor of Bombay was recently announced. Mr. John, a leading lawyer in the old Travancore High Court, was an active member of the Travancore Congress and was also its President for some time. He was a member of the Travancore Cabinet of Mr. Parur T.K. Narayana Pillai and, when that Ministry fell in March 1952, Mr. John formed a new Ministry which was in power till September 1953.
