SUMMER HUES: A model displaying an outfit by Pakistani designer Farnaz Ahmad
With India and Pakistan making steady inroads into a friendly relationship, Farnaz Ahmad, a leading fashion designer from Pakistan, couldn't have found a better time to cater to Indian customers. Farnaz has just come up with Image, a garment store in New Delhi's Greater Kailash Part 1 stacking up a variety of richly embroidered fabrics from her homeland, Pakistan
So, if Indo-western fusion wear is not your cup of tea this summer, and you don't know where to go for chic, yet traditional, ethnic wear, then a stop at Image can offer you something fashionably different.
Baluchi motifs
To beat the heat, Farnaz hasintroduced some ethnic, elegant, reasonably-priced fabrics which she claims to be long-lasting. These fabrics have motifs and patterns of ethnic Kashmiri, Sindhi and Baluchi crafts in infinite designs.
The colours of her fabrics, she promises, would be updated every season. Take for instance, the vibrant, ice cream shades for daywear or deeper tones for evening is kept for this summer apart from the ever-refreshing whites. Image also stocks outfits in chiffon, cotton, khadi and net organza.
Before flaunting her collection at Image, Farnaz had exhibited her stuff at the Bridal Asia 2004 which proved to be an "extremely successful" show for her. She names Delhi designers Rina Dhaka and Rana Gill as her main clients in India.
