Holi jewels!

Anuradha Chhabra.

JEWELLERY HAS always been a part of Indian tradition. But, with the changes in lifestyles, there is clamour for some affordable and light jewellery that goes with all occasions - formal and informal. No wonder jewellery designing is one of the most sought after professions these days. An established name in jewellery designing is Anuradha Chhabra. Brought up in Jaipur, she is attracted by the vibrant colours of Rajasthan. Anuradha is also known for her blend of traditional and modern trends. What began as a hobby some 10 years back, has become her profession.

Anu, who has The Jawaharlal Nehru Award for Excellence under her belt, has now unveiled her latest collection of Italian jewellery at her Panchshila Park showroom. "I have timed the launch of this collection to coincide with Holi which is approaching and I have used a lot of colours in my new designs," says Anu, who has also won the young achiever award from the J.D. Institute of Fashion Technology.

The collection includes pendants, small necklace sets priced at Rs.2000 onwards. The collection comes in both white gold and yellow gold studded with semiprecious stones like emerald, amethyst and plutopaz. "Goldmesh" is another novel design in her collection. The necklace appears like a piece of tissue studded with diamonds.

The forecast for this summer in her words is " use of lot of colours, bright as well as pastel". Planning to open another showroom in South Delhi, she says, "I believe kundan polki is the best to go with Indian attire like sari and traditional salwar sults. Nothing can match kundan polki".
