Fat hope, slim chance

The Weight Watcher's Buffet is a good option for those with no time to garner together a healthy meal

MAYBE IT was a New Year resolution. Or a landmark birthday. Whatever the milestone, when you look back here's what you have - long hours at work, short hours at the gym, one too many beers or big meals and why be delicate?

Sheer laziness has conspired against you. With steely resolve when you stare at the mirror, the corpulent apparition that stares back looks dull and sluggish. It's time that lack lustre butt and that podgy tummy did the disappearing act.

And guess whose making it so good that this is one regimen you'll love sticking to. Green Park has struck gold by offering the right combination of food to savvy, health conscious Hyderabadis by introducing the exclusive Weight Watcher's Buffet at its new look fun place, Escape. Open for lunch everyday (12.30 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.) the food chart includes four soups including clear and thick, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, sandwiches, salads with fresh seasonal vegetables, the option of tossing one's own salads and a choice of juices and seasonal cut fruits.

Says the executive chef, Pavan Kumar, "Green vegetables, fresh fruits and the light and easy spread is a great option as a working lunch as well a wholesome meal."

Chef recommends the clear Vegetable Noodle Soup or the thick Potage Florentine. Take your pick from a glass of watermelon juice, sugarcane or papaya.

Make your own salad with a base of cherry tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, red cabbage and broccoli, with a topping of croutons, peanuts, olives, fried bacon, chopped egg whites and Parmesan cheese. And dress it all up with basil-olive, mint yoghurt or a choice of vinaigrette dressing. For the rich salad there is a choice of Chicken Hawaiian, Cabbage and Mayonnaise, Fruit chaat or Aloo chaat and Tossed salad or Julienne salad. Sandwiches include chicken and cheese sandwiches. Fruit crudités have an offering of papaya, watermelon, pineapple, banana and sapota.

Not quite as staggering as the hotel's Tycoon Buffet or as quick fixed as the Executive Buffet, the Weight Watcher's Buffet is wholesome and priced at Rs. 149 net per head.

All the world's on a diet and if you're still only nit picking at salads, try the combinations at Escape. They're so lip smacking, you'll turn vegan for life.
