PUNJABI DECORATION, waiters wearing dhoti-kurta and live music from Amritsar adding to the ambience. All beckon one to savour the authentic Punjabi food at the Jaypee Vasant Continental's Paatra restaurant that is offering Amritsari Food Festival named `Ambarsariyan da mashoor' for the food connoisseurs till February 20 in association with the Amritsar's M.K. Hotel.
Prepared by master chefs from Amritsar, the restaurant is serving astory of traditions of Punjab that have been forgotten. The specialities with names like Ahuja di lassi, beera chicken, Surinder Singh Kapoor-Adarsh talkiewala's tawa meat, magaz masala and champ, Amritsari kulcha are meant to recreate the magic for the food lovers.
Says Anita Nagaraj, Paatra's Executive chef, "To enlighten theDelhiites about the taste of Punjab, we have got people directly from Amritsar. Also a lot of material like lassi, masalas, papad, vadiyan and fish, etc. comes directly from the place."
The menu include delicacies like fish from hari ke patan, sarson ka saag, tandoori paneer, machchi pudina tikka, bharwan aloo, seekhan, bhatti da murga, rara meat, boti amritsari, dhaagewale karela, gobi masala, tamatar paneer, khumb masala, ghee de kofte and kadhi pakodi to name a few.
For those with a sweet tooth there is gajrela, jalebi rabri nal, moongi dal da halwa, kesar di phirni and gur da halwa on offer.
