Of Dia and sparkle
Looking forward to the future... Dia Mirza in New Delhi. Photo: Rajeev Bhatt.
WITH SEVERAL of her films flopped at the box office, Dia Mirza is obviously down but not out. And still lives on hope. A scintillating beauty from a small town of Hyderabad after winning the title of Femina Miss Asia Pacific 2000, shewas first seen in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein opposite Tamil hero Madhavan making an entry into Bollywood. And now several movies old, Dia is seen doing what other actress are often caught doing - endorsing products.
In New Delhi recently, she was the toast of the crowd as the brand ambassador of the direct selling group Amway endorsing its cosmetic range `Attitude'. Claiming to be privileged to be associated with the company, Dia says, "I am very much glad endorsing the product as it is based on love, honesty, integrity and is very personal to me. I think the name goes very well with my personality because attitude takes you anywhere in life. I have used all the products and my favourite is face wash, as it smells good. And of course, cleanser takes off make up very well which is essential for me in a profession like this."
Getting to talk about her movies, she is not so forthcoming in revealing her character sketches in her future movies. Though, she has something to share with media for her recently-released Blackmail. Making a guest appearance in the movie, she feels, "For an actor it is important to do all kinds of roles and movies whether it is commercial, art or mainstream and I enjoyed a lot working with Ajay Devgan as he is a wonderful person. I love the purity and essence of a person like him."
But why does she chose to play the role of Jiya, a bar girl in Tumsa Nahin Dekha? "When Mahesh Bhattji came up with the script, I really liked it. Moreover, my co-actor in the film Emraan Hashmi and I share good bonding from a long time. It was indeed a pleasure to work in the Bhatt camp. And I feel every actress does to do different kind of roles and this is what I have done too," answers Dia.
Having learnt a lot from her failures in her earlier movies, she has Prateeksha with Jimmy Shergill, Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhoota, Naam Gum Jayega and Parineeta by Pradip Sarkar with a star cast like Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan in her kitty, all slated to release this year.
And surely, the lady is keeping her fingers crossed.
