Will his dream come true?

Aashish Chanana waits for the big break and recognition

HE IS all-in-one. A producer, director and an actor, all rolled into the name Aashish Chanana. He started his career opposite Mandakini in Aag Aur Shola, thendid a film opposite Juhi Chawla, Mehndi Ban Gayee Khoon, which never got released.

He also produced, directed and acted in a Telefilm, Tasveer with Moon Moon Sen. But then he vanished suddenly.

Aashish reasons, "I was away because it was a big struggle for me to ask people for work which was not comfortable. Moreover, there was too much artificial ego among the directors instead of professionalism during the time. I had to pay the price for that, as I could not identify with the films. But in this time I have made 50 music videos, ad films and television serials."

And now finally with Dreams, his in-house production by Media Factory, he is taking a shot at ruling the box office.

"Dreams is a mature film. It is a story of a girl who comes from a family where being a girl is taboo, it's about how she comes to Mumbai and fulfils her dreams. It is a triangular love story. The film director comes into the picture to transform the girl's life, and after that the human emotions, unusual twist create an engrossing plot," he reveals.

All set to release the film in February, Aashish doesn't have very high expectations from the audience, as, "If you have too many expectations they are difficult to meet. It is more important to mark out the target audience and bring them to theatre."

Beside his Dreams, in the pipeline are Magik, a 3D animation movie for kids which will be directed by Nagma; Mission Bangkok, an action comedy belonging to the James Bond and Charlie's Angels genre, with a multilingual cast and three actresses; and Namaste America.

With Dreams soon to be released, let's hope this forgotten actor creates some magic on the silver screen.
