Hotels in the city are all set to celebrate Christmas and New Year
|
Christmas celebrations are incomplete without cakes
IT IS that time of the year when people of all ages get together to celebrate the advent of a new year. Hotels, eateries and bakeries have all joined the bandwagon to attract customers with an array of food that includes traditional items as well as goodies from all over the world. Bright lights, colourful decorations and the soft strains of Christmas jingles lend a festive air to many of the restaurants in the city.
Traditional affair
Many of the hotels, including the upmarket South Park and Muthoot Plaza have a traditional Christmas lunch with roast turkey on their menu. Plum cakes and plum puddings are also a part of the grand feast that is prepared for Christmas. Ambrosia has a variety of cakes to satiate your sweet tooth. Other than the usual cakes, they have new ones such as English Toffee and Dutch Chocolate.
For those who wish to deviate from the traditional Christmas spread, Christmas @ Beanz at Coffee Beanz could be a viable option. Priced at Rs.45 a plate, it includes chicken lollipops with salad dressing and potato chips. New Year
The New Year eve promises to be one of dance and fun with the hotels vying with one another to get the partying crowd. Residency Tower has planned an elaborate sit-down buffet dinner at Galaxy Hall. Parents with young children need not despair. South Park has made arrangements to entertain the children while their parents get an opportunity to let down their hair. Hotel Mascot has organised live bands and music along with dinner. There are prizes and the entire function has been so arranged that no couple will leave the place empty handed.
Muthoot Plaza has music groups from Bangalore who will be performing on New Year Eve. They are planning a theme dinner on the grounds adjacent to the hotel. Christmas hampers consisting of sweets, candies, chocolates, cookies and plum cake are gaining popularity as gifts. Le Meridian, Kovalam, is also flying in DJs from Bangalore on December 29.
