Swirl of style: Skirts form part of Binu Jha's collection
GIVING TRADITIONAL motifs a contemporary twist seems to be apparel designer Binu Jha's forte. Her friend Nalini Panday has turned her talent towards gems and jewellery. The two have put together an exhibition of clothing and jewellery `Hems and Gems', which concludes today at Amethyst, 14, Padmavathy Road, Gopalapuram.
Nalini is known for introducing rare colours and unusual stones such as appetites, beryls, sphenes and chrysoberyl. Her latest collection includes pendants using leather and gold wire.
For this exhibition, Binu has come up with a collection of casual and evening wear. Fluid and feminine silhouettes in rich hand-woven silks and cottons in bright colours are the highlights. Binu's line also includes skirts, trousers, tops, shirts and Indo-Western outfits.
