THE CRAFTS Council of India (CCI) is organising its annual crafts fair from December 3 to 10 that will showcase rare and innovatively created handicrafts from remote parts of the country.
The exhibition-cum-sale will include contemporary lifestyle products crafted out of natural material such as bamboo, grass, screw pine, chik, pineapple and banana fibre.
From old world pattamadai `pattu' pai, bags, table mats to tableware made out of coconut shells, there's an impressive range.
Also available will be Kondapalli toys and home accessories and Kalamkari wall hangings and cushion covers. Sandur Kushal Kendra will display its embroidered creations. And for Chikankari-lovers, there will be enough variety to choose from. The exhibition will focus on the eco-friendly essence of our traditional crafts.
A three-day natural dye workshop (Nov 30 to Dec 2) will be held before the exhibition commences.
The workshop will be conducted by Jagada Rajappa, well known for his natural dye works.
The CCI exhibition will be held at Guild of Service, Casa Major Road, Egmore.
