Going bananas over vegetarian fare

THOSE IN love with pure vegetarian food, the right place right now in the Capital is Govardhan, a South Indian vegetarian paradise, which incidentally takes pride in serving a wide variety of North Indian and Chinese cuisine too. The restaurant that has a sitting capacity of 150, is all set to celebrate its fifth anniversary this coming week. The South Indian dishes include mouth-watering idlis, dosas - there are so many of them like rava masala dosa, erulli masala dosa, paneer rava dosa - uthapams, upmas and what not. The North Indian items include daal makhani, paneer masala and paneer shahi. And the Chinese menu has a wide array of soups like vegetarian manchow soup, vegetarian talumein soup and starters like vegetarian spring roll and momo.

Govardhan's special vegetarian thali is truly wholesome. One can also try its special rice preparations, like the bisi bele bath.

Gaining popularity

Says I. Subramanium of Govardhan, "The restaurant has gained widespread popularity since it was inaugurated, five years back. Basically it is an effort to provide exquisite flavours both from the North and South, all under one roof. Not just the people of the city come here but people even from far off places like Noida drop in quite often because of our quality and range of food".

"The best of hygiene, the best of ingredients, traditional skills and free home delivery within a radius of five kilometres, have all made our restaurant a big hit with our customers and our clients include a lot of big names from the world of corporate sector", adds Subramanium. The restaurant has a comfortable seating arrangement that allows one to relish not just the main course but also the delightful cool desserts, shakes and fruit juices.

Govardhan, located at Adhchini at Sri Aurobindo Marg, plans to open another outlet at Kashmere Gate shortly.
