Promising future... Kanchman Babbar in Delhi. Photo: S. Subramanium.

DEEPLY ROOTED in Indian classical music, Kanchman Babbar has established himself as a successful flautist. His approach to bamboo flutes reflects deep classical craftsmanship in technique and style. The compositions of Babbar are equally meditative and optimistic, exploring wider fields of trance dance, ethno, Sufi, global rhythms and ancient melodies.

`Baawari Jogan' is his recent album released by Times music. Talking about his recent album he says, "It is a spiritual album based on the blessings of Gurumaa. The album has six tracks. The melodies sound of Turkish neh transport the listener to higher states of realisation. The listener will really appreciate it after listening it." Kanchman's association with spiritual master Anandmurti Gurumaa has paved the way to great musical and meditative albums like Shoonya and Shiv Namokar. Says Kanchman, "Sur, saaz, sangeet are like mind, body and soul; once a perfect harmony strikes between them, the music spells an unmentionable magic in the heart of the listener. It becomes a source of pure joy and peace to the listener." Babbar has composed the music for 25 albums in different languages. And now, he is headed the Bollywood way composing the title track of a forthcoming film for Sanjay Dutt's production house. He is a trained sound recordist. He has his own recording studio in Delhi.
