Lines that speak

THE BRITISH Council is holding an exhibition of illustrations for children's literature from November 19 till December 3, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Greams Road. Curated by Quentin Blake, the exhibition titled "Magic Pencil" explores the way in which illustration is used to aid learning and to communicate with force, originality and imagination, issues of contemporary concern. Some of the participants include John Burningham, Angela Barrett, Michael Foreman, Posy Simmonds, Tony Ross and Raymond Briggs.

Over 100 children's books illustrations and multi-media games will be on display. Some children's stories illustrated on film will also be screened.

Schools and colleges can fix a suitable tour time with the gallery to bring their students in batches.

Parallel to the exhibition will be a one-day workshop for illustrators of children's books, on November 19, by Sara Fanelli, illustrator from the U.K., whose work is one among the 13 illustrators shown in "Magic Pencil." For more information, call 52050600.
