Ganjam has been continuously reinventing itself to be in sync with new trends

SOMEONE ONCE said that style comes with a price and well; Ganjam is a true testimony to that. A jewellery brand to reckon with, Ganjam Nagappa and Son Pvt. Ltd., the traditional jewellers from Karnataka, was at the Taj Manjarun in Mangalore earlier this week to showcase their diverse collections, ranging from gold to platinum to diamond and solitaire jewellery.
Perhaps it is to do with the festive season or just the fact that women don't really need a reason to buy jewellery, the crowd that trooped in for the three-day show proved that Mangalore was gung-ho on jewellery; the very reason why Ganjam was making a second appearance in the city, the first being last year. "We did get a fabulous response last year, especially since it was also the festive season. We also see a gradual change in the jewellery preferences of the crowd here, people have been going in for platinum and diamonds, as against the usual preferences of gold," says Sanjay Dash, Brand Manager at Ganjam.
For a traditional jewellery manufacturer, Ganjam sure has come a long way. In fact, the brand has gone all the way to Milan, Madame Tussauds at London, and even Japan. Kumar Ganjam, Director of Ganjam Nagappa and Son, who was in town emphasises that their USP lies in the fact that most of their pieces are exclusives in the real sense.
A wide range
The Ganjam collection encompasses the entire spectrum of jewellery, right from heavy and dazzling to subtle and simple neckpieces, bracelets, bangles, rings and earpieces. One had an entire gamut of categories to choose from, be it the Bridal collection, the Starburst collection, the Heritage collection or even the Ikkat collection.
Gone are the days of gold taking the prime place in a jewellery-lover's list. ''White gold and Platinum are the most sought-after now. The markets in India have been noticing the change for quite a while now," says Sanjay. The international jewellery market has always leaned towards white gold, platinum and diamonds, a trend that is being increasingly picked up by the Indian market too.
Given the range of collection and designs, it is no wonder then that some of the best names in the industry have come forward to lend their designs to Ganjam. Internationally renowned Japanese jewellery designer, Kazuo Ogawa, was one of the first to creatively collaborate with the brand. Traditional or contemporary, as long as the concept of "new look" exists, one can never lose out on the markets!
