S.G. Vasudev's show

S.G. Vasudev's paintings and copper reliefs will be on show at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery from November 15.

S. G. Vasudev

BIG TIME art is visiting Kochi again. S.G.Vasudev will be displaying his works at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery from November 15-21.

Belonging to the K.C.S.Panicker clan that saw in art a lot more than lines and curves, the symbols, colours and thrust of his works have fascinated art enthusiasts not only in India but across the seas too. The tree of life, Vriksha, is often the centre of the thoughts that drive his brush.

His oeuvre of over forty years comprise several series and different media. Oils, tapestries, copper reliefs and drawings will be on show.

The works to be exhibited here covers themes of Vriksha (Tree of Life), Maithuna (Act of Love), `He and She', Humanscapes, Earthscapes and Theatre of Life. Vasudev is a founder member of the Cholamandal Artists Village, but he lives in Bangalore.

What the layman will find in his works are faces, human forms and colours that provoke your thoughts about life, form and the way they are arranged and the background speak of the artist's explorations of the meaning of life, its philosophy.

The Diwali treat for city folks this year will be this national level art exhibition and it's a rare occasion to pick up investment in art.
