A cut above the rest

A STORE selling designer wear at affordable prices is what every fashion-conscious woman would love. One such store that opened recently in Indiranagar is Rashi Creations. It's owner and designer, Rashi, worked out of home to begin with and sent her designs overseas, until she realised that clients were ready to have more from her right here.

The niftily done-up store uses plenty of natural light and vibrant colours of yellow and orange in tune with the colours of garments that are sold there. There are a range of saris, skirts, salwar suits, ghagras and kurtis to choose from. Tailoring orders for pants and salwar suits are also taken up by Rashi.

Designer touch

The saris here are unique, each bearing a designer touch. Most of them use thread work and sequins that have been styled differently for each sari. Going with the fabric of the day, Rashi designs mainly in crepes, georgettes, tissues and brocades, leaving out the silks, which she feels are not much in demand. There are a range of saris and ghagras in Bandhini work too, brought from Jaipur. While most saris begin at Rs. 3,000 on an average, the Kashmiri, hand-embroidered ones, which are pretty exclusive and bear intricate embroidery, begin at a whopping Rs. 25,000.

One side of the store has a number of colourful swatches of material bearing different embroideries. They bear fine details of the work that Rashi does for her customers. After all, as Rashi says, customisation is her specialty: "I don't sell what I have, but what you want."

The range of embroidery can also be seen on the salwar suits, which are available as ready sets as well as in unstitched material.

The store also has accessories such as embroidered bags and stoles, gift boxes, photo frames and the like. Rashi Creations can be contacted on 25276008/36889696.
