Ideal Ice Cream Parlour: gudbuds here are meals in themselves
ICE CREAM is Mangalore's fetish. Not a day or an occasion is complete without gudbuds, parfaits or any of the more than 120 varieties of ice creams.
The salubrious climate all year round ensures that ice cream parlours are never short of customers. The industry is worth around Rs. 300 crore in Dakshina Kannada alone.
Largest in town
It is the city's love for ice creams that has made the Ideal Group build the city's largest ice cream parlour in the city Ideal Ice Cream Parlour. This 300-seat parlour on Market Road is an ice cream lovers paradise and also gives the group an enormous presence in the city because they have already revamped their two existing ice cream parlours on G.H.S. Road and at Lalbagh.
Founder of Ideal group, Prabhakar Kamath, and his son, Mukund Kamath, say that their menu boasts of over 120 varieties of ice creams, including their prized mixes gudbud and chocolate dad. Recently, Mukund came up with his own pina colada, which consists of pineapple ice cream and fresh pineapple pieces in generous portions. Speaking of generosity, Mukund's mixes are indeed sumptuous.
The gudbud has three layers of ice cream (butterscotch, vanilla and strawberry), fresh fruits, dry fruits, mixed fruit jelly, chocolate sauce and a red cherry to top it all. No wonder the hoardings scream "its a meal" .
With the city poised to become one of the industry leaders when it comes to manufacturing ice creams, it's no wonder that the Ideal Group has a state-of-the-art plant that's worth a visit.
The plant is fully automated and the only human intervention required is at the control room, which ensures that customers get to enjoy not only the best ice creams, but the ones made under the most hygienic of conditions.
You cal reach the parlour on 2211673.
