Eco-friendly styles

AIDA SHOWCASES an exotic collection of women's wear at an exhibition at Contemporary Arts and Crafts, 45, C. P. Ramaswami Road, Alwarpet. What's unique about it is that the dyes used are eco-friendly, being natural and vegetable-based. The tradition of block printing fabrics using such dyes can be traced to the Chheepa community that hailed originally from Sind. AIDA has revived this tradition using teakwood blocks etched with intricate motifs. On show are saris, salwar kurtas, kurtis and western wear, some with embroidery, cut work, crochet or khadi work. The exhibition which opens today is on till November 10, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
