Taste of Marwar

Deccan Pavilion brings flavours of Marwar for the festive season

FOOD FROM the marwar region is rich and zestful, chatpata, in popular parlance. Be it ghee-soaked Dal baati churma, raw mango tang Kaer sangri or the honeycomb delicacy Malai ghewar. Pyaz ki kachori and Dal halwa make good appetisers. The latter because in this spread desserts are preferred with namkeens at the beginning of the main course.

Indulge this festive season in this delectable cuisine at Deccan Pavilion, ITC Hotel Kakatiya Sheraton & Towers (Tel: 23400132), as the restaurant brings Marwar ki mahek, a food fiesta to mark the navratri period. "Most people turn vegetarian during this time and Marwar cuisine fitted the bill. For the festival we have invited a maharaja from the region to line up the spread," says Atul Bhalla, F&B manager ITC Hotel Kakatiya Sheraton & Towers.

Find Dal pakodi, Lasun chutney, Ker kaju kismis subzi, Gobi achar, bajra ki roti, papad, seasonal vegetables such as Kande ka saag and more at the special counter as part of the buffet spread at the restaurant. So, while here you can also take a bite of the rest of the kebabs, oriental and Conti spread. The festival is on for dinners 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. till October 24. Not a bad idea to grab a bite before you dash to the dandiya do.
