And the winner is...

My dazzling friend... Jaya Jetley, the winner of Star Plus's reverse auction contest for a Rs.20 lakh diamond set.

SHE HAS never owned anything of this sort before. Something worth owning! That of diamond jewellery valued at Rs.20 lakhs. And this moment to cherish came knocking her door early this week when Delhi-based Jaya Jetley was preparing to leave her Gole market house to attend her office.

"I got this call from Star Plus informing me that I am the lowest bidder and so the winner of the channel's contest Kismat Jagao 7827 Lagao to own a Rs.20 lakh worth diamond jewellery set that had gone on auction. I could not feel my feet on the ground," Jaya is understandably ecstatic. Working as a senior tax consultant at the Income Tax office here, Jaya sent over 1000 SMS text messages to the number 7827 and quoted an amount of Rs.95.72 to secure the lowest winning bid for the set worn by the fictional character Kashish in her marriage with the soap character Sujal in the serial Kahiin To Hoga.

Including Jaya's 1000 SMS, there were over 67 lakhs such messages in 14 days. A more than happy Star Plus is confident that this response would enter either Guinness or Limca Book of Records as the single largest wireless or text mobile phone activity in just two weeks.

Jaya has not received the set yet and is busy attending to "numerous phone calls pouring in her house from acquaintances."

"My four and a half year old son has suddenly become a hero in the colony," she says. The shocking part, she adds, is, "I have never won anything in my life because I never participated in any contests."

And now that she has `realised' that she is so lucky, there is no stopping Jaya. "I will look out for more such contests," she states.
