Sporting style: Models in designer outfits at the Be: showroom. Pic. By R. Ragu

CHIC AND comfortable. That's the hallmark of Be:'s autumn/spring collection, which was recently unveiled at a fashion show held at the store.

Some of fashion's biggest names find rack space at the spacious store. From Rohit Bal and the two Manishs (Malhotra and Arora) to Rajesh Pratap Singh and Wendell Rodricks, it's as designer as it can get.

For the ethnic dresser, there are salwar kurtas and kurtis from Manish Arora in reds and blues for that bright spot. For variety, one can choose a Krishna Mehta chiffon with polka dots or a Vidhi Singhania churidar/trouser kurta in bright pink or orange. Some outfits come with a poncho, the latest in couture circles.

For that Indo-Western look, one can choose a Priyadarshini Rao silk dress or ghaghra skirt and blouson top with the designer's signature `city gypsy' style. Then there's Rodricks' Victorian pleated collars and corsage stoles in subtle browns and off whites. Smart denims, printed tees and dungarees carry the inimitable stamp of Puja Nayyar.

For men too

Men can choose tunics by Rodricks and a smart collection by Shantanu and Nikhil. Priyadarshini Rao goes in for that ethnic look. Check out the reversible denims created by Be:'s in-house designers. Shirts with marble prints add variety to the range.

The designer collection is priced between Rs. 695 and Rs. 6,995.

As for accessories, Rinaldi and Pink brands of footwear from Mumbai make stylish statements. The trendy sequined and beaded flat and heeled slip-ons and formals are eye-catching. Be: also has on display a collection of evening purses and bags in jute, leather and silk, priced from Rs. 795 to Rs. 2,995.

The autumn/winter designer collection is available at the store on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai.
