Ganeshas galore

COME GANESH Chaturthi, and the god of good fortune is splashed in various hues, styles and forms all over the city.

Eka, the ethnic Indian lifestyle store, brought to Bangalore its first "Celebrating Ganesha" exhibition five years ago. The exhibition is back this year too.

This year, Eka has put together a display of Ganesha idols in stone with 24-carat gold ornamentation, Ganeshas in silver with Minakari enamel work, and Ganesha statues in wood with antique paint finish, says proprietor Kimiko Thakur Menzies.

There is an exceptional range of Ganeshas in wood, metal, yellow brass, stone, terracotta, sand, fibreglass and more to pick from, in sizes that range from the miniature to four feet high, in a variety of traditional, tribal and contemporary styles. In addition, there are also paintings and murals of Ganesha by local artists.

Another first at Eka is a section of modern and abstract installation art Ganeshas in wood and hand-beaten copper sheet. For the young and young at heart, Eka has exclusive Ganesha T-shirts and stationery. Prices start from Rs. 50.

The exhibition opened on Friday and will be on till September 19. Eka is located at 19, Gangadhar Chetty Road, opposite the RBANMS grounds, and is open from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. all days of the week. Phone: 25544371 and 25540876.
