Accent on simplicity.

THE DANKOTUWA showroom at the Sri Lanka Trade Centre, Spencer Plaza, glimmers with its collection of porcelain tableware that stands out for its unique shapes, finish and elegant look. Dankotuwa Porcelain Limited (DPL) is a Sri Lanka-based export-oriented manufacturer for world famous designers and department stores in the U.S. and Europe. "The showroom in Chennai is our first one overseas," says Sunil G. Wijesinha chairman, DPL.

The company promotes three brands — Dankotuwa (named after the village where the factory is situated), Laklain and Elan, which are available in leading stores worldwide. Two of their brands have been launched now in the city. According to Isack. N. Solomons, country manager, DPL, Dankotuwa is animal-friendly— the products are free of bone ash.

The collection is a blend of simplicity and class. The flowery and geometrical patterns and lines make it suitable for any form of dining, formal or informal. "The highlight of the collection is the 22 carat gold plated tableware," says Wijesinha. The products are chip resistant and sturdy. The brand has been in existence for over two decades and makes use of Japanese technology. The company is an associate of International Ceramics Incorporated in Japan. It supplies to leading hotels and club resorts across the country.
