A shopping affair

Let us check what men's fashion has in store this Onam

Shoppers at the Louis Philippe showroom

SHOPPING EXPEDITIONS are not something most men look forward to but there is no doing without it. Just so that men's shopping is not given the miss this Onam, let's see what leading outlets in the city have in store for the festive season.

Louis Philippe

The Louis Philippe showroom on M. G. Road has some new collections for Onam. The colours of fall have inspired the Mahogany Traits collection. Shirts in dried earth brown, woody brownish green, rustic ochre reds, yellows, blues and mossy-greenish-grey hues are what Mahogany Traits is all about. Contrasting placket designs are reason enough to pick up this collection, priced between Rs. 999 to Rs. 1,199. Gods and Kings, a premium range, is made from Super Elmoosa cotton. The shirts in this collection are said to be more absorbent than cotton and are available in light colours such as white, blue and cream. Purchases worth Rs. 4,000 will fetch a strolley free.

Wills

Wills Lifestyle showroom at Pan African Plaza on M. G. Road is offering discounts up to 50 per cent till Onam. Their John Players line has discounts up to 25 and 40 per cent on formal wear and 25 per cent on casual shirts. John Players T-shirts have discounts up to 40 per cent.

The Wills label has discounts of up to 25 per cent, 40 per cent and 50 per cent on formal and causal wear for women and men.

A discount of 25 per cent is also available on their collections launched earlier this year. Their Mediterranean line has shirts in attractive oceanic blues, haute cirrus whites and bleached sand beiges.

Woodlands

Woodlands also has attractive discount offers of up to 50 per cent. Men's shorts, available in pastel shades, are priced at Rs. 485. Semi-formal trousers are priced at Rs. 995 and casual trousers at Rs. 895. If you have some adventure trip on the cards, try these nylon water-resistant shorts, which are priced at Rs. 380. Trousers that can be converted into pedal-pushers and shorts are priced at Rs. 1,295. These can be teamed with leather jackets priced at Rs. 4,695. Photographer's jackets are priced at Rs. 970.

With Lifestyle showroom in the city.

Women's T-shirts in blends of cotton and spandex are priced at Rs. 255, while tops with round and V-necks come for Rs. 365. Polos for women are also available.

Crosscut Design Centre

Crosscut, the design store at Catholic Centre, near General Hospital Junction, not only stocks readymade kurtas but also lets you innovate with the designs and silhouettes of the kurtas. Crosscut lets you choose the fabric and even indulge in some mix and match. So try teaming vertical stripes on the sleeves with self-prints on the body of the kurta or go for an embroidered Chinese collar if you wish. If you are bored to death with light shades, just get the shirt dyed at Crosscut. Or opt for shirts in pastel shades with patchwork to liven things up. The store also stocks readymade kurtas (Rs 399 to Rs. 699), short kurtas (Rs. 199 to Rs. 499) and short shirts (Rs. 299 to Rs. 499).

Also at Catholic Centre is the Indigo Nation and Scullers company showroom. Indigo Nation shirts here are priced between Rs. 699 and Rs. 1,200, while Scullers shirts are priced between Rs. 799 and Rs. 1,800. Indigo Nation trousers are priced between Rs. 699 and Rs. 1,400, while Scullers trousers are available in the range of Rs. 899 to Rs. 1,600. Indigo Nation and Scullers T-shirts are priced at Rs. 299. The Scullers Silk Route collection, Vermont collection in warm and bright colours, and Olympic collection in sporty checks are the latest to hit the market. Their linen collection is worth a dekko and a throwback to the days when linen was the fabric of the Pharaohs. Indigo Nation's Covent Garden and Caribia collection are not to be missed. While discounts are not on offer, a holiday in Ooty for purchases worth more than Rs. 2,000 is the tempting offer. For purchases worth more than Rs. 3,000, you get to take home a Scullers bag.

Raymond

The Raymond Shop on M. G. Road has quite a few collections for the festive season. Park Avenue has launched Supema cotton collections, an Easy to Iron range, a fine-tech range and an elegant Platinum collection (between Rs. 800 and Rs. 1,400), among others. Parx and Color Plus also have new stocks for Onam.
