On a buffet binge?

THE RESIDENCY, the multi-cuisine restaurant at the Park Sheraton. Time: 7.15 p.m. The hall is empty. But 15 minutes later, it's bursting at the seams. The lounge is spacious and generously provided with sofas for guests to relax before they take their tables. An intricately designed gate then takes you to the 102-seater dining area. Pastel shades lend a ballroom look to it. As your eyes glide across the room, you cannot but draw comparison between what you see and what you have seen in a book of illustrations on Edwardian architecture.

But, this piece of writing is not about "the new-look Residency," for the restaurant has not undergone any architectural changes in recent times. It is merely going to announce that now The Residency serves dinner buffets as well. As this reporter found out recently, the dinner buffet is extensive. Indian, South Indian, Continental, Thai and Chinese dishes exchange glares and try to slyly nudge each other out. All this while, in a corner, chaat preparations quietly lend an air of immediacy to the dining experience. Low-calorie and egg-less desserts round off this experience. In this category, you may choose between low-calorie strawberry jelly, sugar-free pineapple soufflé, egg-less butterscotch gateau and egg-less chocolate mousse.
