Just chef and I

AT CHEF AND I, the new interactive oriental restaurant, at Uppal's Orchid, Delhi's first deluxe eco-friendly hotel, dining seems a little bit deviated from the ordinary one. The restaurant overlooks the central courtyard of the hotel, which features two water bodies in addition to the green plantation around. The interior has been designed using glass and metal. Soothing pastel upholstery and bright mauve and pink walls complete the creative interiors of the restaurant. Further, the pink walls flaunt the collection of the famous Japanese wine-Sake. The bamboo shoots wait upon silken red spread over the dining table to give it an oriental charm and mesmerise the guests.

"The highlight of Chef and I is that there is no back kitchen in the restaurant and the authentic oriental cuisines from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Burma and China are prepared live by experienced chefs in the open kitchen situated in the centre of the restaurant. The chefs directly interact with the guests to take the order with delectable suggestions and to explain what goes to the making of the dish. Thus, each order is customised to individual preferences," informs the General Manager of the hotel, Pushpender Kumar.

The restaurant uses recycled water, eco-electric switch for lighting and woods paper. They also keep a naturally growing plant on every dining table with a written message of environment conservation for the guests. Nice service, one can comment.
