Another chapter in the art scene

Three artists will feature at Galerie Sara Arakkal from June 6

TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS and a painter will hold their show, Chapter One, at the Galerie Sara Arakkal from June 6. The gallery, run by artist Yusuf Arakkal's wife Sara, is showcasing the works of photographers Rafique Sayed and Shibu Arakkal and artist Azis T.M.

Rafique Sayed began his journey as a photographer by dabbling in fashion photography. Despite his success and the allure of a glamorous life photographing beautiful people, he was soon disillusioned by fashion photography and began capturing images of `real' objects and `real' people.

The other photographer on show, Shibu Arakkal, is hailed by critics for his ability to play with texture, colour and energy in his works. He has photographed for leading Indian newspapers and magazines and has travelled across the world with his images. He also writes, does graphic design work, and is a visual consultant.

Aziz T.M. was born in Kerala where the stunning landscapes of God's Own Country inspired him to paint at an early age. He has been exhibiting solo and in groups right from his college days in Delhi.

The exhibition is on at the gallery till June 20 June, from where it will travel to Gallery Beyond in Mumbai. Galerie Sara Arakkal is a division of Art in Crafts, which provides space for exhibitions, has an art shop for exhibiting artefacts based on the works on eminent artists, and an art books corner. It is located in Brookefields. Address: 156, 4th Main, BEML Layout, ITPL Road, Bangalore 560 056, Ph: 51162622.
