Peppered with Sicilian flavours


THIS MONSOON, Taj Malabar brings to the city a new dining experience through a Sicilian Feast highlighting Italian food from the Sicily Region. This a la carte menu will be on for dinner time at Pepper (the all day dining restaurant) from May 22 till May 30.

Sicilian cuisine is among the oldest in Europe and is refreshingly simple with flavours depending on the fresh ingredients of the season. It is renowned for seafood so one can taste skewered Monkfish with Caper sauce on saffron risotto, roasted roulade of chicken with asparagus, corn and lemon thyme reduction and pan fried Toumedos on a bed of wilted spinach and walnuts to name only a few of the authentic preparations.

Sicilian dessert includes marzipan fruits, ricotta-filled canneoli, cakes decorated with candied fruits, cookies filled with dried fruits, nuts and honey. Pizza and pasta is what comes to mind when one thinks of Italian food but Sicilian cuisine transcends these common culinary choices. Food and wine are among Sicily's main attractions.

Celebration Tables can be booked by families or a group of friends who want to enhance their dining experience. Booking a restaurant table is normal but what is different here is that the table booked will have a unique identity through distinguished crockery, table set up and a pre-set 5 course menu in consultation with the Chef. Not to mention the complimentary glass of wine for each guest on the Celebration Table. The final mood builder is the 2 piece live band, rolling out soothing evening melodies.
