CHOLA SHERATON'S executive chef Ramesh Javvaji has put together a variety of pies, puffs and cakes for Café Mercara's Quick Bite Festival that is on till April 30. For vegetarians, there are cheese and bell pepper turnovers, gingered tofu and celery rolls, spinach mushroom strudle and meli leo pie, while the non-vegetarian section features Polynesian coconut and crab dou dou (flaked crab meat and coconut in a creamy sauce) and chicken pot pie (chicken and bell pepper cooked in white wine and baked in a pie shell). All pies and puffs are served with a house salad, a choice of homemade ranch, thousand island or vinaigrette dressing, Mexican crisps and salsa. For reservations, call 28110101 extn. 1908.

Sweet carnival

FOR SWEET-LOVERS, Archana Sweets is having a month-long (till May 15) summer carnival at its Parsn Complex outlet in Nungambakkam. Complementary sweet drinks, sweet gifts and a slogan contest on the sweetest person in one's life are part of the carnival.


The wide variety lined up for the occasion includes North Indian, South Indian and Bengali sweets and savouries.

Cake festival

HOT DAYS are here, yet it doesn't seem to have dampened the spirit. Hobby classes, food festivals, clothes collections... summer is happening.

Cake World is holding a summer cake and dessert festival from today till May 2. Rich chocolate eclairs, fresh fruit cream cake, plated dessert with fresh fruits and other tempting flavours are on offer.
