Wear a tiara

From vairathodu and mukkuthi that top the wedding trousseau of Tamil brides to Lalitha Jewellery's Tiara, diamonds have come of age in Chennai too.

The more than five-decade-old Lalitha Jewellery Mart, a landmark in Panagal Park, recently opened its diamond outlet on the second floor of its showroom and launched an exclusive diamond jewellery brand, Tiara.

Offering full money-back guarantee on resale, the Tiara range comes in contemporary cuts and subtle styles to dazzle customers. "It may not outshine internationally known names such as Asmi and Nakshatra, yet will have its own glow," say chairman Kandasamy and managing director Kiran Kumar.

The Tiara collection will soon be on the racks of other jewellery stores too across the country. "However, we are mainly looking at the overseas market."

Tiara joined the brand bandwagon with the unveiling of a Rs. One-crore diamond neckpiece at the Lalitha Jewellery showroom. Crafted from 25 big and 400 small stones, the ostentatious piece is supposed to be the first of its kind in the city.
