A wide variety of vegetarian kebabs are on offer at Taj Tristar
|
DID SOMEONE say it is too hot to think, let alone eat crispy kebabs? The gods have been kind to all the epicureans and sent down welcome showers. And making best use of the cooling off is the kebab festival at the Sidewalk Café at Taj Tristar (7818989/7819807) till April 11.
And if you thought kebabs were strictly non-vegetarian, do not fear as at the festival chefs Ashok Shetty and Devdas have conjured up 56 varieties of vegetarian kebabs! The menu, which is changed everyday, offers 12 varieties of kebabs, a welcome drink, roti, dal and an ice cream to round off the meal.
Everyday you could choose from kebabs made of paneer, dal, dry fruits, fresh fruit and vegetable as well as the kebab of the day. To go along, you could select from the five chutneys and salads. The fruit-based Phaldhari with the ubiquitous pineapple is not overpowering in its fruitiness. Bharwani mirch with its tiny little stuffed capsicum is quite a delight and all who have a passion for potatoes can indulge Aloo number. Paneer comes in thick generous slices as well as in tikka form. And then there are little vada like rajma-based kebabs.
Everything is served live, which is why the festival is being held at the Sidewalk Café where the walk through ambience gives you the bistro feeling. But if you are not feeling particularly outdoorsy, that is fine as you could sit in the air-conditioned comfort of Tristar's multi-cuisine restaurant, Galaxy, and order the kebab of your choice a la carte. It does not get better than this. There is wonderful weather (April is choosing not to be the cruellest month), our boys in blue are playing mind-blowingly well and there are all these yummy kebabs to choose from!
