Artistic experience

M.F. HUSAIN and Cinema Ghar (Museum of art and cinema) are synonymous. This house of art is now vibrant with activity. A storehouse on art, it is a must-see for those interested in art and for those who are not, it provides a glimpse of the man who glamorised Indian art - the celebrated M.F. Husain. Now Cinema Ghar (Plot no 55-Broad no 12, Banjara Hills) is open to those who want to see it. A conducted tour of this repository conducted by Najma Husain provides an artistic experience. Cinema Ghar houses paintings, graphics, installations, sculptures and furniture designed by the artist. One of the main attractions is the library, which includes books on various topics. The other interesting places are the small auditorium (with a seating capacity of 50) and art shop (selling graphics, prints [the limited edition ones are signed by Husain], publications of Husain, post cards and CDs and tapes of M.F. Husain's autobiography).

The visitors will be enlightened about the various objects in the museum. And they will be shown a film clip for a few minutes preceded by an explanation. Such guided tours of one and a half hours can be undertaken on Fridays at 11 a.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. For group tours at requested timings one can call 23392602.

For those who want to see Cinema Ghar and not undertake the tour, it is open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and from Tuesday to Thursday by appointment only. It is closed on Monday.
