Artistic variety

IF YOU have an eye for traditional handicrafts of Andhra Pradesh, check out the exhibition being organised by Lepakshi at the Sri Sankara Hall, TTK Road, Alwarpet.

As many as 70 artisans are showcasing a variety of products — wood carvings, Kondapalli dolls, lacquer toys of Etikopakka, leather puppets, terracotta pottery, jute and leather bags and purses, crochet laces, kalamkari bedsheets, Gadwal, Venkatagiri, Chirala and Pochampalli saris and fabrics in cotton and silk and dhurries and carpets.

The other attractions include Hyderabad pearl and silver jewellery, copper and brass artefacts and black metal castings.

The mela is aimed at popularising the traditional handicrafts of Andhra Pradesh and thereby helping the artisans. A discount of 10 per cent on handicrafts and 20 per cent on textiles is being offered.

The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. till March 15.
