Busy executives can now indulge in a quick bite and wash the food down with a glass of beer

AT 10 DOWNING Street, you can always be assured that you are in for a great time, even if you land up during lunch. Thanks to the newly introduced pub-lunch menu, TDS is witnessing a rush of music-loving working executives who enjoy good food and don't mind a good drink at recess for a recharge to take on the rest of the day.

Affordably priced at Rs. 150 for non-vegetarian and Rs. 100 for vegetarian, the choice is between Continental, Indian and Chinese; a glass of beer/soft drink, and soup and dessert are complimentary accompaniments.

Says 10D-managing partner Vinod Reddy, "Our pub lunches have been a great hit right from day one because of the diverse variety of food items we dish out." Add to this, the great music and smiling faces of the many regulars, a warm cosy ambience and a good company - coming here is an agreeable deviation from work, a great one at that. This traditional dimly lit English pub is hidden away behind the bright lights of Lifestyle in one corner. As you enter, you step inside a whole new world of wood and glass complete with eclectic artefacts like an old grandfather's clock, books and a few pictures adorning the intricately done up woody walls.

"The speciality of our lunch package is that unlike other restaurants, we serve food in a jiffy as we understand that most of our guests are in hurry to experience everything in a limited recess time of half-an-hour or so," says Vinod. At 10D the restaurant closes only when the last people have left, so those who have time by their side are allowed to sit and stretch their lunch session till evening. Let's take a look at the menu. In the Chinese bill of fare, one can find mouth-watering delicacies like, Tender Chicken in French Bean and Celery sauce, Stuffed Fish Ginger Sauce, Stir-fried Chicken with Baby corn & Mushroom which can be combined with Peking rice, Szechwan noodles or Minced chilli noodle-rice.

In veg., the combinations are nearly endless - Golden fried cauliflower in White sauce, Diced Vegetable Cashew Nut, Pataya vegetables and a dozen others. In the Indian menu one can find most of the expected items but the Hyderabadi biryani that has been left out by choice for obvious reasons. The Conti-spread is huge with different kinds of pastas, steaks, lasagne and spaghetti, and different sauces.

A few people come to pubs and get brilliant ideas because under dim lights they feel their sensory nerves sense better. These ideas sometimes spark off something bigger by the time one leaves the pub. At 10 Downing Street, you don't need to remember those ideas but only what you eat.
