Poetry in pottery

Bangalore-based "Earthen Symphony" is organising an exhibition of terracotta artefacts and murals that draw inspiration from diverse themes - ethnic Indian, traditional Egyptian and contemporary.

The show that's on till December 7, at the Vimonisha Gallery, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam, displays a wide range of tastefully created pieces to enliven interiors.

The works come in earthen hues with dashes of jewel tones. Some of them, with imaginative touches of white and aqua are bound to add visual drama to monotonous homes. Terracotta urns with ethnic motifs and abstract geometric patterns bring out the artisans' sense of form and colour. The murals and knick knacks with fine detailing and finer colour schemes make a fine statement.
