Cool Sitaphal

Check out the Sitaphal sundae as part of the season's flavour at Melting Moments

THE HOLY month of Ramzan, coupled with chilly winter nights, shows the typical Hyderabadi in a whole new perspective. Take a stroll in places like Mouzamjahi Market, Afzal Gunj and Charminar around midnight, and the place is alive with action and aglow with the festive spirit - hawkers selling clothes, footwear, haleem and biryani, and the buyers making their choices aaraam se! Perhaps, Hyderabad is one of the few places in the country where you could drive down to Abids at 1 a.m. and eat a fresh fruit salad or fruit-based handmade ice cream.

Every season, including chilly winters, Hyderabadis religiously await the season's fruits and its ice cream version. Summer had its share with mango and kharbooza (musk melon) topping the ice cream charts, followed closely by the cheeku delight. And now, with the arrival of the custard apple season, get ready to dig into a sugary cool Sitaphal ice cream at Melting Moments, as part of the season's flavours here.

Aptly named Sitaphal Slurp, this is a delectable custard apple sundae — two scoops of fresh fruit ice cream topped with custard apple pulp and a dollop of cream, and priced at Rs. 65.

If you are not an ice cream person, go for a single scoop of the same at Rs. 35. About the custard apple ice cream, "the ice cream is made with low (30 per cent) fat cream with no added flavours, colours and sugars," says Md. Zakiuddin of Melting Moments. The Sitaphal Slurp will be available for one month or till the custard apple season lasts, whichever comes first. So, get your scoop at Melting Moments (8-2-120/115/B, Road No. 2, Banjara Hills, Tel: 23600899) before the season ends.
