Saying BRAVO to the brave

THE RED and White Bravery Awards, a social initiative of Godfrey Phillips India, was instituted in 1990, to honour the "true heroes" of our society. The award intends to recognise the ordinary citizens who have performed extraordinary deeds.

Red and White has invited applications from eligible candidates for awards in three categories. In the Physical Bravery category, a person who has saved life or property, putting his or her own life at risk is chosen. This award is sometimes awarded posthumously.

The Social Acts of Courage category is for those crusading against social evils such as dowry, child labour, illiteracy, environmental pollution, or any other social cause. Organisations are also eligible to apply for award in this category.

The Social Lifetime Achievement category is given to an outstanding citizen for his/her remarkable lifetime contribution in the field of social service.

Three people are chosen in the first two categories for gold, silver, and bronze medals, which entail cash prizes of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000. The company takes special care to ensure that the award winners' achievements are authentic.

One can send in entries to The Secretary, The Red and White Bravery Awards, P.O. Box No. 3535, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi 110 024.
