Wear your attitude

Fashion designing refers basically to the design, manufacture and marketing of textile and garments. As a fashion designer, one must possess a sense of aesthetics and colour, visual imagination and knowledge of market trends.

Designing is the most important aspect in the fashion industry. It involves designing garments according to the latest market trends. Designers keep abreast of the latest fashion trends through constant research. Manufacturing, another important area, comprises purchase of textiles and fabrics, training, scheduling, pattern making, fishing and quality control.

Once the design is made, it is presented to the client and production department. Changes, if any, are incorporated at this stage and the required textiles are purchased.

The master pattern of the chosen design is created and reproduced in a variety of sizes.

The garments are also displayed at the retail store. Fashion designers have to work about two seasons ahead and keep an eye on the latest fabrics, colours and styles. Fashion shows are the platform for fashion designers to display their pręt-a-porter (ready-to-wear) creations.
