Smart business directory

A directory, available on the Internet and in CD format, provides information about public utilities and businesses in the Tamil Nadu.

IT CAN be called a localised search engine. Go online or load a CD of Qubee, a business directory introduced by the Chennai-based Bizware Solutions Limited, and you can get information about major towns in the State.

Just type in the details in the search engine and all the information you seek is available in a jiffy.

"It's just like the yellow pages. As it is not possible to provide information about the entire State in a book, we decided to give it this format. Through this, we were able to overcome a lot of disadvantages, " explains W. David Rajkumar, Manager (Marketing), Bizware Solutions.

In qubee.net, there are a number of search options. The local guide option gives information about public utility services in a city.

If you click on the city of your choice, details like train timings, air timings, ambulance services and important contact numbers would be displayed.

"We are planning to release two lakh CDs in Tamil Nadu," he says. Then comes the category-wise search option. Here you get details of companies, products and industries. However, only the names of companies registered with Qubee will be displayed.

Often, it is difficult to find particulars about manufacturers and retailers. This is where the business directory comes in handy. A company's profile, contact persons and business details are put on the web and CD.

"We have about 10,000 registered clients in the State," says G. Satyapriya, Senior Manager (Marketing).

"By the end of this year, we are planning to have toll free numbers in important cities," she says. It's not just plain business information. When you want to book a room in a hotel, you get to see the type of accommodation available, conference facilities and cost of accommodation.

The directory will be updated once in three months.
