Freedom fare

Mountbatten grilled chickens, Red Fort curries... savour these and other national flavours on Independence Day.

IT'LL BE national flavour on a platter, for, on August 15, The Residency Hotel on G.N. Chetty Road is arranging a special Independence Day buffet, at its restaurant Ahaar.

Ahaar will have authentic dishes of every region — from Kashmir to Kanyakumari — for those craving for food of their native land as well as for those who want to explore other cuisines.

The dishes right from starters to desserts will be named after the State of their origin. Savour the spicy Haryanvi mirchi ka salan and finish off with a Mathura peda or tickle your tastebuds with a Charminar Biriyani and move on to an Allepey Erucheri. And all these in an ambience befitting the occasion.

The buffet is priced at Rs. 250 for adults and Rs. 125 for children. The lunch is available between 12.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. and dinner from 7 p.m. to 11.45 p.m. For booking, contact 28253434.

Meanwhile, at Mainstreet, the 24-hour restaurant at the Residency Towers, the Indian dishes will be named after freedom fighters and famous places in the Freedom Movement while the Continental dishes will be named after British Generals. So, one could choose a Bhagat Singh mast mast (a Punjabi chicken dish), mutton Red Fort curry or a Lord Mountbatten grilled chicken. The staff will be attired ethnically complete with Nehru caps on that day to add to the ambience. Here the buffet is priced at Rs. 300 for adults and Rs. 200 for children. The lunch will be available from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and dinner from 7.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. For reservation, call 28156363.
