Stylish accessories

Celeste unveils a new collection of accessories like embroidered jootis, fashion jewellery, branded watches, stone-studded lacquer bangles, quilted bags and more.

WHAT'S NEW at Celeste, the boutique that opened with bags galore in March? "We started with bags because that has been my forte, having retailed with premium stores in the U.S. before I came down here, and therefore wanted Celeste to be a bag store. We later realised that people wanted more accessories. So we introduced a new range of select accessories in order to maintain exclusivity," says Shalini Kumar of Celeste, as she unveils a new line of pocket-friendly line of bags, embroidered jootis by Upasana Sarin of New Delhi, black metal jewellery from Mumbai that is retailed in haute boutiques such as Ffolio (Bangalore) and Hyderabadi lacquer kadas.

If you are looking for ethnic footwear to match your trousseau, the jootis can be your answer. With dull zardosi and ahri work in silver and gold against a contrasting black and white background or overall beadwork in black and white hues, colourful floral motifs in silk thread highlighted with gold threads and more, the options in jootis, available in sizes 4-6 (Rs.775— Rs.1, 045), are many.

On the whole, the jootis line reads festive. "Since my bags are ornamental, I have started with decorative footwear to go with the bridal bags in tissue and brocade. The jootis can also be teamed with jeans since this is an era of fusion wear," says Shalini.

The gunmetal line of fashion jewellery, again, is meant for today's fusion wardrobe. Must see pieces are the cocktail finger rings, featuring elegant workmanship and a dash of Svarowskis in hues of lime green and pink that stand out on the black metal, and priced at Rs. 354. The earrings follow the same theme of stones and gunmetal synergy while you can find a lot of beads, mother of pearl and thread in the neckpieces section. Team these up with lacquer bangles, which range from chunky kadas fitted with purple, green, pink and golden stones all over to those in trendy zigzag and floral shapes, again, studded with festive greens and goldens. The stone-studded branded watches from the French label Bijoux Terner makes the accessorisation complete. Apart from a festive line, the store also has introduced accessories priced at Rs. 325 onwards. Choose from quilted bags in pastels and also belts for hipsters--laser-cut leathers and those in beads.
