Strange behaviour

POONAM DHILLON, a familiar face in Shobha De's soap, "Kitty Party", says she's had enough of the serial and would like to call it quits. News has it that Shobha De is penning the lines for an apt exit for the actress. So easy! Actors, all of a sudden, either get bored or have other compulsions (however genuine) to bid goodbye to a soap... and out emerge the director and dialogue writer to bring about the change, however abrupt, strange and unbelievable it may sound to the storyline.

Bringing back to life a dead person (that too a lead character) was weirder in "Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi". The director claimed it was done because of public demand, and was done with thought and finesse. A popular Tamil serial had to suddenly come up with a plot to kill one of the female leads in the story, as the heroine had to join her husband overseas. Whither ethics and professionalism? If these are professional hazards, why do we have to have soaps running for years?
