PSYCHOLOGY BELIEVES that every human being is unique. There are times when people are indecisive and confused on how to march ahead in life. Only a few leave their mark on the society and they are those who dare to be different. Because, "winners don't do different things, they do things differently". These words are of Shiv Khera, the internationally acclaimed author of `You Can Win'. An educator, motivator, business consultant, much sought after speaker and successful entrepreneur, Khera wears many hats.
His winners hate to lose. Unlike losers, they work hard and put in an extra effort even when it hurts. As all days are not alike, there are ups and downs in life but the winners take them all in their stride. It is the positive attitude that contributes to success. As he says, "Success is the progressive realisation of an internal worthy goal. Worthy refers to our value system. The worthiness determines the quality of the journey, and goals give us a sense of direction. These universal values are internal, which cross country, culture and religious barriers."
Buoyed by the success of `You Can Win', published in 1998, the author has just launched his second book, `Living With Honour', which is claimed to have broken the world record of the `Harry Potter' book series by going into print with 75,000 copies initially. "This book is all about honour and being honourable. Honour is related to dignity and honourable with worthy of respect. It is your behaviour which brings respect or disrespect." He explains, "If I don't stand for myself, who will? And if I stand only for myself then what am I". This new book raises some fundamental questions such as: Can you live with honour in a corrupt society? Can you succeed with honour at your workplace or live with honour in today's environment?
Khera inspires people with his magical words. These words are only symbols of ideas that revolve around certain basic concepts, helping them realise their true potential. He is furious when it comes to corrupt politicians of this country. That is the reason why he has launched the movement, `Country First', which raises major issues that need to be addressed like electoral reforms, witness protection plan, which will prevent a witness turning hostile and trial of corruption cases on a day-to-day basis, the way it is commonly practiced in the West. He says, " If a citizen does not oppose injustice and crime, then he is encouraging it. The politicians and the priests of this country are using the `Divide and Rule' method to fulfil their own interests and rule the country. If we want to live with honour and see a better India then every citizen must become a soldier. A soldier is not only willing to sacrifice but also ready to stop those who destroy the nation. We need to eradicate the breed of corrupt traitors who are ready to sell the country for personal gains". He warns, " If injustice is happening to your neighbour and you can sleep, wait for your turn. You are next". He expresses his ideas brilliantly.
The man with varied interest - he loves to play with his dogs, enjoys polo and horse riding and holds a green belt in martial art - Khera measures your vision and prescribes the right type of glasses, which will give you a new and more accurate view of the world with the message, " Freedom is not free, every generation must earn its own freedom because if we are not part of the solution, then we are the problem".
