A simple love story

`Chalte Chalte', from the stables of Dreamz Unlimited is a simple love story.

LOVE STORIES are dime a dozen in the Hindi film industry. This genre has been explored so much yet there is difference in treatment. Audiences never seem to tire of seeing romance on screen. So it seems as the only films which seem to have done well in the last few months are Saathiya, Ishq Vishq and Andaaz. Here comes another one from Dreamz Unlimited - the production house of Aziz Mirza, Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan in association with UTV Motion Pictures - Chalte Chalte.

A tale of two hearts - the film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Scripted by Aziz Mirza and Robin Bhatt, the film revolves around relationships. "The reactions by people bound by relationships are different. Each one reacts differently to a situation. The film is a love story - it states what happens, it does not analyse. The script emerged from various experiences of people," says director Aziz Mirza.

Raj (Shah Rukh) and Priya (Rani Mukherjee) are different as chalk and cheese. While Raj (Shah Rukh is eternally Raj) is the impulsive, middle-class, hardworking and emotional fellow, Priya is prim, proper and practical. Yet they allow Cupid to strike. And then there is a change. What happens next? Get to the theatre and walk along with the protagonists to see what happens.

Mirza feels the film "presents a slice of some areas of life. Therefore it is realistic. I don't feel relationships are eternal - sometimes the parting is for the better. If the bonding is strong the chances of it working is strong. Story wise, Chalte Chalte is the same, it is the treatment which differs."

Two big names figure in the film. And if the magic works then the industry will surely see better days. "Everybody wants a film to do well. I think one should make a honest film - an entertainer with passion and responsibility," Mirza underlines.

Relationship is the story of three rings, the engagement ring, the wedding ring and the suffering, says the brochure of the film and see for yourselves whether it is really so.
