Icy cool and refreshing

`Melting Moments' is the new outlet in town for fruit-based ices and combination sundaes.

SUMMER AND ice go together. And if you have the exotic ices Ripples of Ebony, Mango Spell and Chocolate Mousse, served in a refreshing ambience— an energising lemon yellow salon with bay windows , you couldn't ask for more. The adjacent lawn with wrought iron furniture is an open-air option if you like to eat your ices under the starry sky.

Located opposite the KBR Park, Jubilee Hills, is the new ice cream destination Melting Moments... Ice Dreams, "Ice dreams because we feel that relishing ice creams should be an experience in itself and we have lined up unusual flavours for the first time in the twin cities. We specialise in fruit ices such as ice creams made with seasonal fruits using a traditional technique that has no artificial flavours and colours except those of the fruits. We used to make haat ka ice cream and decided to come up with a place to offer the same creamy ices to the connoisseurs in the twin cities," says Zaki of Melting Moments.

Barely a few days old, the outlet is open between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., and has a constant line of ice cream aficionados pouring in especially after sunset.

Some of the popular fruit-based ices here are Mango Mischief— a mango ice cream served over a bed of luscious mangoes and topped with fresh cream, Melony— a musk melon ice cream served with the fruit and dollops of cream, and Mango Spell— an aam ras (mango juice) and vanilla ice cream combination. The Kulfi is a hot favourite as the ice cream combo sundaes and plain flavours here.

In the scoop sundaes (Rs.65-Rs.85), Rage of Angelsanjeer (fig) ice cream served with fresh fig dipped in honey and topped with nuts, Scarlet Fantasy— apricot ice cream with pickled apricot and nuts, Cappuccino Escapade— a refreshing blend of chocolate, coffee and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, chocolate fudge and plenty of nuts, and First Date— the date almond offering topped with apricot sauce and fresh whipped cream, are popular.

"We use a lot of sauces that we prepare, for toppings such as Apple sauce, Pecan sauce and Apricot sauce. The ices are 100 per cent vegetarian and high on cream content," says Zaki.

And if you are fond of cakes with ice creams, check out Autumn Dreams— chocolate truffle cake with scoops of chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, chocolate cream and chocolate flakes or Fairyland Exotica— a very strawberry affair with strawberry cake, ice cream and strawberries topped with strawberry sauce. For the pure ices, choose from slices (Rs.25-Rs.35) of Vanilla, Chocolate Chips, Butterscotch, Orange, Apple, Black Currant, Lichee and more.

And to wrap up, you could pick some scrumptious vegetable and cheese sandwiches. So, the next time you are passing by , drop in to this ice cream salon. Melting Moments can be reached on 23600899 or 98480-45506.
