Best of winged delicacies

CFC's chicken delights are quite different. The recipe comes from Hong Kong city.

Fresh from the farms and fried to the full, the Hong Kong way. That's the speciality of City Fried Chicken (CFC). The exclusive chicken joint, inaugurated recently at the Hotel City Tower, serves the best of these birdies in style.

"Coimbatoreans are fast turning out to be chicken crazy.

"Any dish with chicken is grabbed with both hands. The cost doesn't matter as long as the dish is delicious," says Restaurant Manager Mohammed Ibrahim.

True. "There are many small eateries and restaurants serving roasted chicken but the public demand is increasing by the day. Keeping this in mind we decided to come up with a chicken corner," says Ibrahim. "Our chicken delights are quite different from what others make. They are crisp and crumb-fried. It's a secret recipe, straight from Hong Kong city.

"The pre-mixed powder in which the chicken is marinated in is imported. We also serve chicken in attractive packages to suit every pocket."

The individual meal packages contain kids meal, light meal, royal meal and jumbo meal. Every package has a piece of roasted chicken or two. The Royal and Jumbo meals carry additional pieces.

Your choice doesn't end there. French fries, buns, coleslaw salad (cabbage with mayonnaise dressing) and soft drinks are also on offer to tantalise the tastebuds.

Sandwich packages, family and party meals are also available, besides side orders and desserts.

Ibrahim states that light meals, chicken burgers and family packages are the fastest moving items on the menu. The eatery, open from morn to night, caters to close to 200 customers a day.

Those who love to munch at home can avail door delivery facility. An average of 50 people opt for this service every day.

Is it not difficult to manage the crowd at the CFC? "No" says P I Mohammed, Operations Manager of the hotel. "We have two imported machines to pressure-fry these birds.

The normal kadai or frying pan consumes time. This new technology makes it a lot easier.

During peak hours --12 noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m -- the dishes are served in a jiffy_ just three minutes.

Besides air-conditioned space for singles and take-aways, the CFC also has a large drive-in facility.

With quality dishes, attractive prices and good ambience customers are sure to storm the chicken corner asking for more.
